2013 Savigny Les Beaune 1er Cru Aux Guettes - For us this vineyard has always displayed a wonderfully pure cherry fruit quality. Guettes was one of the first wines I ever made in 1996 and it always has ripe cherry fruit, a long finish and is the poster child of Pinot Noir. We use about 40% new oak and only made 62 cases this year.

April 15, 201587-90 This too is pungently reduced with just enough wood to notice that is also reflected by the beautifully detailed and notably more mineral-inflected medium weight flavors that also display just a touch of dryness that detracts slightly from the overall sense of balance. I would again observe that in the context of the 2013 vintage this is very reasonably done.
