August 201097+ Galardi’s 2008 Terra di Lavoro is a legend in the making. It is a fabulously ripe, rich and seductive wine endowed with beautifully articulated dark plums, ash, leather, licorice, all of which meld together in an explosive, utterly thrilling display of class and elegance. Clean, mineral notes frame the eternal finish. Today the 2008 is impossibly young and the wine will require considerable patience, but its class, pedigree and potential are all first-rate. Simply put, the 2008 is a monumental Terra di Lavoro. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2038.

March 201191+ Very deep inky-ruby color. Very ripe aromas of blackcurrant, balsamic plum, mocha and scorched earth. Sweet, plush and creamy on entry, then rather tannic in the middle, with exotic oak notes of chocolate and mocha. A soft, plush, sweet style of wine with plenty of ripe black fruit and chocolate flavors. Finishes moderately long, with soft, ripe tannins. This big, creamy wine is an Italian wine icon for some collectors; it's well made as always but in this vintage seems to be rather monolithic. Perhaps a couple of years in the bottle will bring greater complexity but I don't think this vintage will be remembered as one of the better Terra di Lavoros.
June 1, 201190 Terra di Lavoro (a blend of Aglianico and Piedirosso) is packaged in a handsome bottle and opens with inky, dark richness. The well concentrated wine is redolent of espresso bean, rum cake, chocolate, leather and moist pipe tobacco. The sweet tannins are very astringent still so give this wine time to soften.
