98 Fabulous aromas of blackberry, vanilla, chocolate and spices. Full-bodied, with supersilky tannins and loads of toasty oak, berry and chocolate character. This is very youthful and well structured. Give it some more time. Giancarlo Pacenti is a masterful winemaker.--1997 Italian blind retrospective. Best after 2009. 2,000 cases made.

92 Opaque garnet with blackish tones. Inviting, multi-dimensional aromas of cinnamon, black pepper, glove leather and chestnut puree. Intense flavors of blackberry, mint and marzipan. A dense, concentrated wine, with substantial extract and full tannic thrust. At once juicy and plush, with lovely spice components emerging on the long finish.

90 The 1997 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, a well sustained garnet, is rich and sweet in aromatic impact with crushed raspberry and chocolate notes. The warm and balanced flavors, silky in texture, of berry fruit and good wood, develop well in the glass and expand in volume and weight on the finish. Drink: 2005-2012.
