89-91 A slightly riper and more complex nose is composed by essence of pear, white peach and dried flowers. There is more volume as well as mid-palate concentration to the medium-bodied and palate coating flavors that deliver slightly more depth on the well-balanced and solidly long finish. This is a lovely Puligny villages and worth a look.

88-90 The 2013 Puligny-Montrachet les Enseigneres has a very reticent nose at the moment, perhaps more so than the village cru. The palate is balanced on the entry with citrus lemon, grapefruit and lime, although it just needs to gain a little more weight and presence to fill out the finish. Visiting Francois Carillon on a chilly, windy Monday evening, it was somewhat a relief to step inside his warm barrel cellar full of newborn 2014s. Fran├žois told me that he cropped the 2013 vintage September 26 to October 4. I enthused about his roster of 2013s that I feel show more drive and ambition than when I tasted the 2012s from barrel a year ago. In particular, his Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru was spectacular, one of the best of several I have encountered from barrel. Given the reasonable prices for the wines, many of these come recommended.

87-89 Bright, light yellow. Aromas and flavors of lime, lemon and clove show a touch of browning-apple oxidation that is probably temporary. Juicy and intense, displaying a firm, lightly tannic structure and a solidity that comes from very small grapes. In an awkward phase now, more phenolic and less refined than the basic village Puligny.
